How we find properties online
Uganda's property market is spread across videos, posts, websites and local business pages. makaug uses approved APIs for YouTube, X, TikTok and Google to find public property information and bring it into one searchable place. We do not use Facebook for this process.
YouTube API
Helps makaug find public property videos and updates from relevant Uganda property channels while keeping the original video connected to the listing.
X API — formerly Twitter
Helps us find public property posts and retain the original post link, account and date so people can see where the information came from.
TikTok API
Helps us identify public property videos from relevant sources and connect each suitable listing back to the original TikTok post.
Google APIs
Help us find public property pages and understand places, map positions, addresses and districts. The original source remains visible wherever a property was found online.
Find the original public post
A property found online must link back to the specific public post, video or page it came from—not simply a search page or social profile.
Read and structure the evidence
We extract only what the source supports: title, caption, price, property type, area, contact details, media, author and first-posted date. Missing facts stay missing or are marked for confirmation.
Check the details and duplicates
We compare the source, location, price, contact details, description and images to flag repeated or inconsistent listings before publication.
Human review before publication
Nothing found online is published automatically. Our team reviews the source, property details, contact route, location, images, duplicates and safety concerns first.
Clear sources: makaug organises public property information; we do not claim ownership of the original post, fill in facts that were not provided or treat an online post as proof of ownership. Owners and agents can claim, correct or request removal of a listing.

Trust and accountability
How we work to prevent fraud
Property fraud cannot be solved by a badge or one automated check. makaug combines identity and contact checks, structured evidence, duplicate detection, human review, visible sources and a report-and-removal process. We keep a review trail so concerns and decisions can be followed up instead of disappearing.
Identity and contact checks
People submitting property provide contact and identity information for review. We check that the contact route works and that the person can respond to questions about the listing. These checks support accountability, but they are not a guarantee of ownership.
Reviewed before it is public
Submitted and found-online properties go into review rather than straight onto the public site. The team checks the description, price, location, contact route, images, source evidence and obvious inconsistencies before deciding whether the listing is ready.
Duplicate listing and image checks
We compare source links, property details, contacts, locations, descriptions and, where available, image fingerprints. Likely repeats or recycled media are flagged for a closer look so one property is not presented as several different opportunities.
Sources and changes stay traceable
Found-online listings keep a route to the original public source. Review decisions, status changes, corrections, claims and removal requests are handled through recorded workflows so the team can investigate what happened and act consistently.
Fraud and pressure signals
Unclear ownership claims, conflicting locations or prices, copied media, suspicious contacts and pressure to make an urgent or untraceable payment are reasons to pause or escalate a listing. Users can report a concern directly for staff review.
Claim, correct, report or remove
Owners and agents can claim a found-online listing, correct inaccurate information or request removal. Anyone can report suspicious behaviour. The team reviews the evidence and can hold, hide, correct or remove content while the concern is investigated.
Your independent checks still matter: makaug review reduces avoidable risk but does not replace a physical viewing, an independent lawyer, an official title search, a written agreement or a traceable payment method. Never pay because somebody is pressuring you to act immediately.
