Data we collect
Depending on the service used, we collect account and contact details, property and listing information, verification records, device and security logs, support communications, and limited publicly available source information needed for property discovery and attribution.
Publicly available source information
makaug may collect limited publicly available property information from third-party sources, including property location, guide price, property type, source link, source name, and publicly displayed contact routes.
How this information is used
makaug uses this information to help users discover property opportunities, show source attribution, prevent fraud, improve user safety, and direct users back to the original source.
Correction and removal
Where personal data is included in a third-party property result, makaug displays only what is necessary for discovery, attribution, fraud prevention, and user safety. Individuals may request correction or removal of personal data by contacting makaug.
TikTok Login Kit and Display API
Connecting TikTok is optional. If a user authorizes it, makaug receives the user's TikTok open ID, display name, avatar, profile link, approved scopes, public-video metadata such as titles, descriptions, cover images, share or embed links and creation times, and OAuth access and refresh tokens. The requested scopes are user.info.basic and video.list. We use them only to show the connected user's basic profile and public videos so that user can choose an original source link for a property listing. We do not request permission to publish, edit, or delete TikTok content.
TikTok security, control, and retention
TikTok OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest and are not placed in public pages, listing or search payloads, analytics, logs, or browser storage. Profile and video data is shown only to the browser session associated with the connection. A user can disconnect at /tiktok-connect or revoke access through TikTok settings. Disconnecting immediately deletes the stored makaug TikTok connection record and encrypted tokens. An original TikTok source link deliberately attached to a listing may remain with that listing until the listing or source is removed.
Sharing and international processing
We do not sell personal data. We may use service providers for hosting, messaging, analytics, fraud prevention, and authorised integrations such as TikTok, or disclose data where lawfully required. Some providers may process data outside Uganda; we use reasonable contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the service and applicable law.
Retention and security
We keep data only as long as needed for the service, legal obligations, fraud investigation, and audits, then delete or anonymise it. We use access controls, encryption, secure cookies, and monitoring, although no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection where applicable, update communication preferences, disconnect integrations, and ask for removal of source information. makaug is intended for adults and does not knowingly use its TikTok connection to collect personal data from children.
